Scribbled Rabbitfish (Siganus virgatus)

The Scribbled Rabbitfish, also known as the Two Barred Rabbitfish is a moderately large species reaching just under a foot long. The  fish is named for its intricate pattern and large dark bars near its face. It is a peaceful but territorial species that may become defense over its grazing grounds and protect them from similar species. It should be noted this species has venomous spines along its dorsal fin which it will raise defensively when spooked. While the venom is not life threatening they should avoid being handled. It is reef safe with caution as some individuals may pick at corals if not kept well fed with algae.
