Red Tiger Lotus (Nymphaea zenkerii)

The Red Tiger Lotus is a striking relative of lily pads and a great beginner plant for those who don't mind tending to it. This plant grows reddish pink leaves and is a fast grower once settled. This is a bulb plant, and it is important to not fully bury the bulb in the substrate to prevent it from rotting. This adaptable plant can grow upwards of two feet tall though once leaves reach the surface, they will float in a more traditional lily pad manner. This plant has the potential to grow quite large with leaves able to grow over a foot in diameter, though it can be maintained as a smaller plant with regular trimming.
